Hi Folks,
I have a Flying V which has an intermittant short or open. I mistakenly assumed it was the input jack, as it would cut out when moving the cord, but after replacing that part, (and the problem still existing), I found that normal playing, tapping on the pickguard/knobs, etc., can also produce the condition.
I am assuming it is a poor connection somewhere, but the above demonstrates the effectiveness of my assumptions....
Can someone please walk me thru the procedure of systematically checking the pots, pickups, switch, and ground to trace down this problem? I have an OHM meter, so we'll need to start with what ohm setting to use. Please assume nothing, I'm not experienced with this type of work. Instructions such as "Place ground probe here, positive probe here, then move to..." and the implications of the readings I get would be most helpful.
Thanks very much in advance.
