I was given a set of old Gibbie pups about 5 years ago, and at first I wasn't sure they were Gibson (although they sound fantastic), until I saw this pic. It's a wiring harness from a '73 SG, and the pickups are identical to mine, except mine have gold covers. Anyone have any info on this type of Gibbie 'bucker, specifically what years they were manufactured/used? Their outputs are fairly low, perhaps due to age, but they have tons of tone...bright but not overly so with a sweet midrange and a nice bottom-end. Bridge reads about 7.4k ohms, neck about 5.5 or so. Do these ring a bell with anyone?

I have never seen a Gibson pup with that 'sealed' look on the bottom side. If you have some in an SG that look just like those, you are ahead of me in identifying them.

The stock pickups in my '76 ES-335 are sealed on the bottom like that....
