I have the same guitar and it doesn't look anything like the the link Bilious provided. I bought mine used. It looks exactly like a strat except for the very top where the machine heads are. It is labeled Ephiphone as well as Gibson.
The guy I bought it from told me the guitar is a bit of a rarity in that it was produced by Epiphone right after Gibson had bought Epiphone. Epiphone soon stopped making Fender copies so the guitar is a bit of an anamoly. A Strat copy with Epiphone and Gibson labels.
That's the story I got, not sure if it's true but it makes sense and I've never seen anything to the contrary. There doesn't seem to be a lot of infor on these guitars at first look.
Good Luck.

I think you are describing an Epiphone S-310. I had from about 1989-1998 or so; looked just like a Strat but with an Explorer-shaped headstock. Th ebody was plywood and heavy, but still sounded nice for an entry level guitar.
