100 Greatest Guitar Solos?

Just to stir things up a bit.... Here is a listing from Guitar World of the "100 Greatest Guitar Solos" What do you think? Who got left off? Who shouldn't be there? What would your top 10 be?

Every guitarist has opinions on what some of the greatest recorded guitar solos are. While there are many that are commonly regarded as "great", there are lots of others that don't get as much attention. Not too long ago, the editors of Guitar World magazine put together a reader's poll, to find out what their readers considered to be the best guitar solos of all time. The results surely reflect the magazine's demographic (no jazz guitar solos, for example), but no one can argue the following 100 selections boast some great guitar work.

Ugh. "Stairway to Heaven" is number one. Not my idea of the number one guitar solo. But OK. I'd have to say it's hard to separate the player and the song from the solo. I like Slash's playing on solo work but never liked GnR. So, it's too hard to see him ranked high for their work.

But David Gilmore sure does some great solos and I'd guess "Comfortably Numb" ranks right up there in my book.

I like guitar solos of R.Blackmore, Angus Y., Dimebag, Zakk W., Slash, G.Moore... but my favorite solos are from Hotel California - Eagles and Highway star - Deep Purple...

Where is Steve Morse with the Dixie Dregs or Alan Holdsworth? They are 2 of my favorites!

Whenever such lists come out, whether it be best solo, song, guitarist, album, etc., most players will sort of agree with what, 10-20%? The rest he finds laughable...
