ES-335, Les Paul, ES-175... ?

I know the prime JJ Cale cover band "Talk to the cat" plays a Les Paul and a 60s/70s style Tele. Anyway, it needs to sound woody and warm.

I think he played his home customized special with Gibson (P90 & HB) and Silvertone pickups, and a ES-335 and a Les Paul back in the day in studio.

It seems that your guess is as good as ours.

Sorry

JJ played a harmony sovereign in the 70's with a bunch of different pickups in it. After awhile the back fell off, but according to john it sounded even better....

I caught him on some music program a while back. He was playing a well-worn Strat and sounded very much like J.J. Cale of yesteryear. I guess I'll pull out some old vinyl and give it a listen..
