I've always been a nut for P-90's, and back in the mid-70's it wasn't easy to find a good LP with P-90's. Add to that that you NEVER saw 'em on a LP with an ebony fingerboard, unless you saw a funky old mid-50's Custom.
So, I just about fell in love when I saw the prototype for this model in the music store I haunted 28 years ago when I was in high school.
I don't think they were lying. When I ever saw black models of the Pro after this, they had black knobs. This one had gold knobs.
It's the only guitar I bought new, and I had to trade in a non-reverse Firebird I, an SG Jr., and pay $52.50 to pick it up.
I don't regret it...even if the neck on the SG Jr. was a nice, thick hunk o' wood.
