Hi all,
I hope this link works http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19180534/
In short, a vet who owns a music store in Minn. has been sending musical instruments to our soldiers in Iraq. He is by no means a rich man, but as you'll read, has donated his time and stock from his own store to bring some of our men and women the gift of music.
I contacted him this morning, and he is emailing me the names of two soldiers who have asked for electric guitars. ( I don't have any acoustics) The guys who have received these instruments aren't the only to benefit; they play for their buddies, have jam sessions, and bring a little bit of home and comfort to a place with little of either.
If you have an instrument to donate, or perhaps know a music store owner who might particpate, you can contact Steve Baker @ Fergus Music in Fergus Falls, Minn (218) 736-5541 Directly. He has a (long) list of soldiers who have asked for specific intruments (guitars, horns, etc.). He said the cost of shipping has been difficult for him, so if you can send the instrument directly to the soldier, it saves Steve the shipping charges.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
John
