I've owned an L4-A (#02854044) acoustic for almost two years now, and use it almost exclusively for solo performing. During this time, because this is such a wonderful instrument in every way, I've tried to find out a little bit about it.

However, I've been unable to find anything concrete about this exact specific model. It has a sunburst finish, trapezoid mop inlays, spruce top/maple sides, with Fishman Prefix. To my ears, it is unparalleled in sound and a true joy to place in many styles.

Occasionally I've seen one or two L4-As on Ebay, but they have dot inlays, or they have rosewood sides, or something is different. I guess I'm trying to figure out if this is was custom-built, or if this is even that unusual for Gibson. Curiousity more than anything, as I sure thought I'd come across another one by now.

Thanks for any info if someone has the time - Steve
