Hi everyone. I am a newbie here and am looking for some advice. I just bought an early 70s G35 SS amp. I have done some work on it (new transformer, power cord, caps, transistors, cleaned the pots). I can't find much information about this model anywhere. I am curious about how much this is worth and if there are any thoughts/comments anyone has. Thanks

I found someone who knows this amp and circuitry in detail based on 30 years of tech and player experience. This model appears to be an interesting point in Gibson history in that is represents a transitional period in Gib history in several ways. First, the circuitry is essentially a basic tube design with transistors substituted for tubes. The real basis for the design is indeed the Fender amps of the time, which actually harken back to Western Electric of the 1930s. So this amp reflects a simple and elegant design before circuitry was truly designed from the ground up as SS. The amp was actually manufactured for Gibson by CMI before CMI became a joint venture partner with Bob Moog and brought more discipline to manufacturing and documentation (which is one reason why there is so little documentation available on this model). So this may be a slightly collectable piece that will retain a reasonable value of a couple hundred bucks in the short term. Anyone out there have thoughts or comments? Thanks

INteresting info, Bevo. I am a tube amp guy myself. I have a mid-60's GA-35RVT tube amp sitting a few feet away from me. The first Gibson SS amp that I heard was a head with two speaker 'columns' back in '67 or so. IT wasn't for me.
The Moog connection is interesting. The Lab Series amps from the NOrlin era were designed by the Moog people. IMho, these Lab products are the best SS amps that I have played through. B.B. King prefers an L-5 Lab SEries(2X12 combo). He will play through a Twin REverb if the Lab is not available. The Multifilter section and the compression circuit make the Lab what it is, imo. The Labs were fairly complicated circuits.
collectability? That is a phrase I have never heard with SS amps, but who knows what may happen. Good luck with it.
