Hi -
I just received a new ES175D out of the factory (it was a warranty replacement...) and Gibson shipped it with 10's?? I think the bottoms are much heavier than 46's though.... They're bright and I actually really like them..anyone know what strings are shipping from the factory? I assume their some Gibson brand....

Thanks

Hey, I went to the www.gibson.com website and they say they're using "Brite Wires", 10-46 on the EX-175's. That would be a bit light for my taste.

If you like a more traditional string, try the Dean Markley Nickel Steel String in gauge 11-52. It comes with a wound 3rd string and they sound wonderful. It is the set I use on my jazz box. That would be the Dean Markley 2505B set.

Take care.
