A while back I traded a MIM Telecaster to a guy for an Epiphone Les Paul which is a very nice looking guitar. It has the silver metal flake top and all the hardware had been changed to black.
I took it to Guitar Center to have it rewired. I have all my Gibsons & Epi's with two tone and volume controls wired with just a master volume and tone control and the other slots have a pull phase switch and a coil tap. It still looks like a four knob standard configuration but has some interesting tonal option.
Anyway, when I picked it up the repairman at GC said "Man do you know what you've got here?" and I said "What?". He told me that the neck pickup on the guitar was an old Gibson PAF pickup and was probably worth twice as much as the guitar. Is that true? What are those things worth? I was thinking of taking it out of the Epi but it sounds too good so I just might keep it in there.............JH in Va.
