Apologies if I'm posting in the wrong forum...
Been looking for an 00 or 0 size rig that's playable and affordable, you know not a Stella but not a Martin 00-17 or the like...and I see these frequently on eBay.
I've been able to determine that the LG0 is ladder braced and the LG1 & 2 are X braced, but that's all I could come up with.
Any thoughts?
Thank you kindly,
Joel

Well from my '60's catalog it says the LG-0 is satin finished all mahogany. The LG-1 is a spruce top with mahogany back and rims and a traditional sunburst finish. Other than that I have no hands-on experience. :)

Thanks for the help!
Anyone know if these models would be considered OO size?
Or smaller?
Bigger?
Anyway thanks again!

Joel, the LG Gibsons are close to the 00 size, but the shape is different....the dimesnsions and size are close to classical guitars. I would advise finding the X-braced models....LG-2 and LG-3(I have never seen an LG-3 but they are out there somewhere). The LG-1 is a ladder-braced design. This design difference is less of a tonal effect than in larger guitars, but I prefer the x-bracing. (Don't confuse these LG's with the earlier 'L' models. The L-1 is known as the 'Robert Johnson' guitar...pre-WWII era.) The LG series was introduced in '42. The LG-0 is the mahogany top, the LG-1,2, and 3 are spruce tops....except for some interruption of spruce during WWII. As I said earlier, the difference between the LG-1 and the LG-2 if the bracing. The LG-3 is the 'fancy' version of the LG-2.

Little late; but didn't the 1 have a plastic bridge?

You'll find plastic bridges on some Gibson models starting in the early '60's, I think. I have even seen a J-45 with a plastic bridge!

Had a '64 LG1 for a while, but hated the tone. Cheap student guitar in a classical sized body. Having said that, some people really dig them for acoustic blues and slide, so each to his own. Just didn't work for me.
