If I ever have to get rid of everything, you bet the LP would be the last to go,
Tele next to the last.
Don't really want to live without them, all other guitars are just a dalliance as
far as I'm concerned.

Well, kind of... I got an Epiphone LP Standard. Gonna switch out the pots, pups, switches, and wiring. I'm thinking of getting some double-cream Seth Lovers and removing the covers.
I like the LP sound, but I like my Fenders better....

Just picked up a '77 LP Custom. I haven't had a Les Paul in years, but this one came into our store at a good price and I decided to grab it. I've been a dedicated Fender guy all my life, but I figured I'd add this one to my quiver. Time will tell how much it gets played......

I really like my 78 with the 3 piece maple neck. It feels strong and stable compared to some other one piece necks. Some of these 70's lps seem to take bad rap simply because they are built differently than the older ones. Like Johnny V I picked mine up at good price and therefore couldn't pass it up.

If it came down to it, I'd keep my Tele and let go of the LP. However if I get a Historic '56, that might change.

I always try to use the correct tools for the job at hand. When I need the "beef" give me a LP. When I want to hear some "chime" give me a Fender.

Hard pick this one and essentially impossible. The answer
(for myself, even though I played them for the larger part
of the late 80's/90's) is the strats go firstand hopefully
only.

I'm looking for a way to get rid of my '96 Classic (goldtop). Might sound dumb, but although I like it (sounded better with Seth Lovers), I don't need it for anything except when I want a LP sound, and that never happens! I don't like the scale length, but everything else is fine. I just think I could get more/cooler gear by selling it since it's worth so much! It would be great if I could get what I paid for it...

While they sound good, they are much more likely to cause you feedback grief and other microphonic type problems. My favorite 'buckers are a Duncan JB in the bridge and a Duncan Jazz in the neck. It's a great combo for all sorts of music - jazz, rock, blues, metal, southern rock.

If I was serious about Piano I'd get a Steinway and a fender Rhodes. Tow completely different animals, but a pleasure just the same.
Thats how I feel about my Les Paul, Tele and Strat. Three different animals. All a pleasure to play.

Gibson Burstbucker or 57 classics are the way to go.

I'm really looking for something that will break up easily at the low (basement) volumes I play at.
I'm actually gonna order double creams and take the covers off, so that should cut down a lot on the squealing.... Maybe not, though, I had a strat pup that squealed like a stuck pig if I even got near an amp... The cover was fairly snug so I just ended up replacing it....

I've had no problems with microphonics or squealing with my seths. Just very nice, rich, woody, creamy TONE! Of course, I don't play high gain music! Yet even with a fairly high volume and the distortion pedal cranked, no squeal.

It's between 3 of my 8 total guitars: my Strat I've had since '78, My '99 Relic Nocaster, and my '02 Historic Reissue '54 Les Paul (named in order of acquisition to not suggest favoritism).
I suppose if I had to make a choice of only one to run into my burning house to save, it would be the Strat. We have mileage and I know what she does. She may not be worth the most money-wise, but we are well acquainted and I can make her work in any situation I find myself in.

Man.....a tough decision I don't want to
ever have to make....choosing between
favorite Teles or LP historics.
