I have played alnico 2 pro and they were pretty fat and quite smooth. these days I have changed over to a set of pearly gates whch have slightly less output and better definition. that extra treble helps cut through the mix while still sounding sweet. they don't moosh out when distorting

is a great pickup. They are warm and smooth. The lower output vs. other humbuckers shouldn't be taken as a weakness: They sound killer with distortion. The Antiquity humbucker also comes with an A2 magnet, as does the Pearly Gates, and I think the Seth Lover is also A2. I generally prefer A2 in the bridge, and A5 in the neck.
