Hi, new to the board but I've been lurking for ages.
I recently grabbed a sweet Korina flying V off of Ebay and I got to say I'm impressed! Many of the reviews I had read made it sound like a cheapo toy, but the one I got is well-made and a real player. Even the hardware is well-fitted and the neck is really nice. I was prepared to do a complete overhaul on it, but so far it doesn't seem to need it as yet.
The stock epi pickups where a real surprise. While they ARE microphonic, the tone I get from them is actually pretty cool (thru my vibrolux and various small practice amps). Nice sustain and sparkle.
Here's my question - Originally I had the crazy idea of swapping them out for some TVjones filtertrons to get a real growl and sting - (they make some that will drop right into a humbucker slut complete with gold cover).
Anybody have any thoughts/experience with the TVjones pickups they'd like to impart??
