Hello,
I am new to this forum and just wanted to say hello!
I have a 1982 ES-335 Dot (natural/blonde) that I bought new in 1983. It plays and sounds very nice.

Greetings from Cologne/Germany

Welcome to the GDPRI! Congratulations on playing a greag GIbson. I am wanting a Dot RI someday in the future. I have '66 ES-345TDC that I bought new in '67. She's a beauty....I only wish the neck had the width of the older ones as with the RI's.

...............to this board. It is kind of slow these days. Perhaps we can find ways to perk up the traffic. Welcome aboard.

Hi Klaus. Welcome! Don't see too many blonde 335's, but the few I've seen have been awfully nice. My 135 is a blonde with gold hardware and knobs, and sometimes I like to just look at it! Nothin' beats a Gibson semi in my book, much as I love other guitars.

Hello,
and thank you for your notes.

As far as I know the (1982) ES-335 Dot was some kind of forerunner of the later Reissue models.
There are some differences to the later RIs. Mine has a 3-piece mahogany neck that is not as thin as the RI-necks. The maple top of the body isn't figuered and the pickups are not the '57 classics. but the pickups are very nice sounding indeed. However I swapped pickups several times - and always returned to the originally pickups after some weeks or month.
When i boiught my guitar the finish was really *natural*. Now it has faded to a yellow colour almost like the real vintage models from the 60s.
Regards,
Klaus

Klaus, it sounds like you have the bigger neck as would have been on the '58-'59 335's. How about fret size? I am figuring that you have the jumbo's.
By 3-piece neck, do you mean including the wings at the headstock, or is the shaft of the neck laminated?

Hello Wally,
the neck itself is three piece. plus the little wings at the headsock.
The frets are not jumbo size. They are quite flat. I have a 1994 LP Standard. It's frets are much higher; the width seems to be almost the same. Also the LP neck is fatter than the neck of my ES-335.
