hi

I can buy an SG 1974. What are typical things I should look out for ? What would be an honest price ?

thanks guys

if you're talking REAL VINTAGE, maybe $1700+

Take note of the neck set angle and the neck joint.

yeah, i'd only pay that if it was in great condition (perhaps i'm a cheapskate?)

Look for headstock repairs, refins, non-original electronics (pot codes should read
13773** or 13774**). Also make sure that all parts (bridge, tuners, scratchplate) are the ones you associate with an SG from that year

Post pics if you want a second opinion

If it is in great condition, maybe 1750-$2000, but onlypay that if it is completey original. Congrats on the find too.

i've seen decent condition 74' sg standards on ebay for about usd1000, the appointments are different, you should take note of the neck joint -no spacing between the end neck and the neck pickup, also if i'm not mistaken the neck on the 74 kinda feels like it has a medium profile to it, feels like a les paul
