Guys:
I am by no means a music critic, but I bought the Johnny A. CD recently and really like it. I believe it's called "Get On In" or something like that, and it is really good stuff.
Mostly what I like is his tone. He's an avid Gibson player and his humbucker tones are to die for. Give it a listen and I'm sure you'll hear your own Gibson tones on that album.
Best to you.

"Get Inside" and "Sometime Tuesday Morning" are the ones I know about. I actually heard one and not the other, and don't recall which is which. The guy who had the CD's said the one I didn't hear was better - very cool clean Gibson.

..............that's the latest one and it is good stuff. I marvel at this three piece band sounding as big as they do. Good stuff. I'm enjoying it a lot.
Take care.

I've got both cd's as well. Great stuff and great playing. What amazes me sometimes is that his guitar sounds like the best Tele on earth, through the best Fender Blackface amp. He plays a Gibson through a Marshall so I guess tone is in the fingers :)

.............as Johnny just nails the classic Tele tone on a Gibson hollow body. How can a person do that? I am amazed and you are absolutely correct. I'm really liking this CD.
The funny thing is, I hear the tones that my 335 can make, but not the playing ability. He is just so good and fluent.
Take care.

Yes, his technique is almost intimidating :) I bought the tab of his first cd...very interesting. I can highly recommend it.

check him out. Has been around here in VT a few times, got to catch him at the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival for free. Tight, 3 piece band. Great stuff. THe guy definitely has a fine touch.
