Anyone have any experience with the Greco ES-175's? Are they as nice as the real Gibsons? I had a 175 but sold it. Now I'm missing it for those warm quiet jazz gigs, but I don't want to spend the 2K to get another one. I'm thinking if I can get one of these it might satisfy the urge. What should I expect to pay for one of these?
Thanks,
Dana

............I can highly recommend a couple of models from The Heritage Guitar Company. These are the workmen who stayed behind and didn't move when Gibson went to Nashville. They make great models similar to Gibsons, but at much less cost.
I own an H-576 and though it is semi-hollow, it produces great jazz tones. I've owned an H-575, which is fully hollow, and sold it. Now, of course, I wish I hadn't sold it. These guitars, in great condition, will sell for $1200 or less used.
I'd recommend you look for a good used Heritage in your area and give it a try. High quality, from the guys who made Gibson's for years.
Take care.

I have two Greco LPs and a 335 and they are all great guitars! I just bought a 175 0n e-bucks but I don't have it yet. I'll let you know how I like it when it arrives. If it sounds as nice as it looks I'll be a happy guy.[/img]

Welcome aboard, nickster. I've done that too. Ididn't even know Greco still made guitars. Is it even the same company?
Anyway, things move a little slow here. I wish it was busier.

HEY !! Good to hear another voice. Greco quit making "lawsuit" replicas in 1989. I have found the ones made in the late 70s and early 80s to be fantastic deals. If you shop around on e-bay you can find nice ones in the states for reasonable prices and you don't have to pay 120.00 to have it shipped from Japan where a lot of the older ones are being sold now. A good site with lots of info is.....www.guitarsjapan.com/grecoinfopage.html
if you are intersted..good to know there ARE people here.
