How many of you are using Duncans from the Custom line, like the Custom, CC, C-5, or JB, which I consider part of it?

I'm a mainstay member of the Duncan Forum, and have tried almost all of them in Les Pauls, over the years.

The combo I've come to, after using most Duncans, Fralins, and Holmes, is the Duncan Custom 5 bridge,
and either a 59, Jazz, or Seth Lover, in the neck, usually in nickel. There's many good things to be said about those 3 neck pickups, not to mention the Pearly Gates neck. For me though, the Custom 5 bridge is about as perfect as it gets, in a Les Paul. Custom 5 is awesome sounding in PRS McCarties, as well. Duncan really hit the nail on the head with this pickup. IMO.

Hi Gearjoneser!

Its Randy from the SD forum.

I'm using a CC in a MIJ Strat for slide. Otherwise,
Antiquity's of various sorts.

Hey, what's up? Gotta have some talk of Duncans, when talking Gibsons. I'm also curious about the Peter Florance Voodoo hums, too. Right now it's mostly Custom 5/59, Custom Custom/Seth Lover N, and JB/Jazz.

A friend of mine, KBR, uses the Voodoo's in his guitars. Mostly custom Strat & Tele clones. He likes the Lovers, but prefers the Voodoo's over them...no covers!

My Les Paul Custom has had the Custom and the Distortion in it over the years, but for two years now I've been playing the Custom 5 and that pickup is here to stay. It's loud and powerful like a JB, but it has a smoother top end and a tighter bottom end. To my ears, it's just right!

My neck pickup is a 59n. I've used the JB and 59n combination in other guitars too, but no longer own any of those.

I don't really use the JB anymore either. For LP's the Custom 5 is my favorite, along with a Seth Lover set, and if you want the bridge beefier, the CC/Seth is great. The C-5/Pearly Gates is also a good combo, for someone who wants a brighter neck pickup than a 59 or Seth

For LP's used for metal, the Custom/59 is always a popular choice.

The Custom 5 fits everything I play on a Les Paul. I can get Judas Priest and Metallica. I can get Allman Brothers and Gov't Mule. I can get Free and Bad Company. Zep, Cream, Mountain... Sounds great straight or with pedals.
