I put an Antiquity in the brige position of my Deluxe. Excellent pickup! The Antiquity has complex mids, and an airy high end. While being about 8.6kohms in output, it actually sounds bigger than the JB. Another guitar player friend of mine came to the same conclusion with his Custom.

Randy, do you know if Antiquities are the same as Seth Lovers....the only difference being the aged poles and covers? I always thought they sounded the same, but there must be some minor tonal differences?
They are very warm pickups.
In my Honeyflame Prem Plus, I have a Seth neck, which is probably one of the greatest sounding neck pickups. Even though they don't pot Seths and Ants, those neck pickups never squeal on gainy tones. The Seth bridge wasn't my thing, so I used my mainstay Custom 5 in nickel (factory potted). To me the C-5 nickel is the best Les Paul pickup Duncan makes. The Alnico 5 has tight, percussive lows, neutral mids, and vintage highs, and almost the output level of a JB. So perfect!

I am told that the tones are very close, with the Seth having a little thicker midrange. I would imagine that the Antiquity is using a scatter wind with a "dun-aged" magnet. But, now that I think about it, I'm not really sure that the Seth doesn't use the same things. Lew has tried them both, and says the Seths are just a little thicker sounding... but only a marginal type of difference.

Yes, I think the Antiquity sound a little bit thiner. My Antiquity sound much thinner (i.e. less mids) than Gibsons so called PAFs.
To my ears the Antiquity sound clearer and more defined - it's better for cord work.

Since the last time I posted on this thread, I've come to like the Seth Bridge more than the CC. Now, my two main players have C-5/59, and another has the 50th Anniversary Seth Lovers. I'm really starting to love that set.
