Anyone know if these are fetching prices like this lately? I own one just like this in as good or better shape except I had a stop tailpiece, brass nut (which is soon to be replaced with a graphite nut), and Schaller tuners installed. Recently got it out of mothballs and it plays like a dream, even though it's in need of a setup! Any 335 players out there know if this guys price is in line with similar era 335's

Sharp guitar. The Trini Lopez models do not command the same prices that ES-335's do. A comparaable '68 335 would bring maybe 75% more than a Lopez. The starting bid on this Lopez is at the bottom of exc cond. retail in the latest VG price guiide.. ..top in the book is $2k. top in that book for a comparaaable Es-335 is $3500. Prices may have moved since that info was gathered, but I doubt if a Lopez would increase much over such a short time. IMHO, the BIN is a bit high.

Thanks Wally, appreciate the info. I bought mine back in '76/'77 for $425.00. I guess the opening bid is about right according to your vintage price guide, though I don't think that I would go any higher than that just in leiu of the fact that (for me at least) you would still have to have work done to bring out it's full potential, (stop tailpeice, new tuners) Still even at say, $2000.00 its a good deal if one wants to get into 335 zone for considerably cheaper than a comparable 335!

P.S. Dig those bound (diamond shape) F-holes. I always thought 335's would look so much better with bound f-holes.

One thing about the Trini that I am not wild about is the 6-in-line peghead. The increased lenghth on the high E and B strings causes an increase in string tension and makes bending more difficult when compared to the trad Gibson 3-on-a-side.
