I've been a Tele kinda guy seems like forever, but lately I just can't get away from how much better a Gibson scalelength P-90 equipped guitar out-tele's a tele!

It's all there: the highs, the crispy, the growl, the snarl.

My newish Melody Maker with a P-90 has become my first grab for all kinds of service.

I don't get why people say the newer Gibson P-90's don't sound like the old ones.
Are they sure they haven't got P-100's mixed up?

I HAVE A TON OF TELES, BUT CAN'T SEEM TO GET AWAY FROM THAT MELODY MAKER P-90. I JUST ADJUSTED THE MAGNETS ON THE PICKUP AND IT SOUNDS GREAT.I LOVE THE NECK ON THAT BAD BOY TOO! I KEEP MY MELODY MAKER ON THE HANGER BY MY COMPUTER. ITS RIGHT WHERE I CAN GRAB IT.

I have a newish MM with a p90 and love it. My other main guitar is a '52 Tele reissue. Yeah, I agree, in away the melody maker can have some tele spank and twang, but way more growl. I don't honestly know which is my favorite, but the Melody Maker is always on a stand ready to play while I keep the tele in it's case and bring it out to play. So, I guess when all is said and done I end up grabbing for my melody maker more. It really shines for dirty, swampy finger picked blues like lightnin' Hopkins or R.L Burnside kinda' stuff. Sounds better through my little pignose than the Tele does to. I guess for cleaner, jazzier blues I prefer the Tele and for everything else the Melody Maker. Truly one of the best guitars I've ever owned.

Mmaker,

There's nothing like my LP special with SD Vintage P-90's for gettin' my Ya-Ya's out! I like ot play along with my favorite 'Stones albums in Keef tuning with this little devil.

It grunts, snorts and snarls through my ' 68 Vibro Champ at living room volumes. Once my wife walked in on me from behind (verrry quietly) as I was windmilling the final chops of "Won't Get Fooled Again" with this combination turned up to NINE on my little amp!
"Wawmp! Wawmp! Wawmp! Wawmp. Wawmmmmmm
..SHINK!" I was huffin and puffin, catching my breath after windmilling my arm. My sweatpants were saggin, I was having a major "Crack attack", my belly hangin down when I heard her sweet Asian voice say: "God, I'm worried about you!" LOL!!
There's nothing more fun for gettin' nasty than a P-90 equipped Gibson LP Special!

I recently put some P-90s in my LP Jr. Special to replace the P-100s. Mmmm...I'm a happy man.
