1995 epiphone PR 5E /VS with gibson label on headstock

Hay all I need some help!
I have a epiphone Pr 5E /vs with a Gibson plastic cover on headstock
very hard to find on internet I have seen one other but like in UK
most of all the epiphones I see have the epi logo inlay and
the Epi E plastic piece that covers bolt on headstock
doing some investigating it is a 1995 epiphone made in Korea
guitar is almost flawless why is it so hard to find info?
Question #1 EQ does not light up with new battery
do you have to plug it into an amp for the red light to come on and work?
I have no way to test.
#2 instrument has 2 places to plug an amp into or something? one
looks like regular amp plug in, and the other is female with prongs
Sticking out and says LOW-z ball? #3 What amp works the best for this instrument?
#4 what kind of cord do I need to get it to work?
the EQ is a epiphonic V and seems not to light up
any info would be greatly appreciated it plays beautifully
My uncle willed it to me so I am clueless to info he played it
All the time, I never did see it plugged into an amp.
anyplace to find info besides the Gibson web sight
Thanks

IF you are referrign to the truss rod cover, Gibson does use a 'Gibson' logo on some Epi's.
I wouldn't think that a guitar from that era would have a Gibson truss rod cover, but people find it necessary soemtimes to change things. Whether or not the cover was original to the guitar is an unknown.

1)Active electronics such as that preamp system require that a plug be inserted into the guitar's jack in order to put the battery in the circuit. So, there will be no LED's lighting up unless a cable is inserted into the guitar. NOte: If you are not using the picup, don't leave the cable plugged into the guitar. This will drain the battery.
2)The 'odd' jack that you ask about is the low impedance balanced output to go directly to the board or an outboard preamp/DI box. Some acoustic instrument amps have a balanced input jack.
3)Most folks use an 'acoustic' instrument amplifier. Any amp will work...some are just better than others at amplifying acoustic instruments. The best that I have heard are hi-fidelity tube amps, but what you are going to find will be things like the FEnder ACoustisonic, Fishman amps, ....or any PA amp/board.
4)A regular guitar cable will work.
Welcome to the GDPRI....and enjoy the inheritance.

I believe the XLR out put on the guitar is for......

use when using a PA set with "phantom power", I don't think it'll work on a regular sound system without that feature..........JH in Va.
