Free Guitar offer on Strat-talk should be done here

Just my thought, but I would increase the traffic and posting on here as well.

I'd like to do something like that here. It's in my plans. However, I want to get through this one as a learning experience first.

Plus, Gibson isn't about to give me a guitar to give away for free.

But I haven't forgotten Gibson-Talk. I'm here 5 or 6 times a day and always working on things to make it better.

The result in the first 4 days at Strat-Talk is pretty amazing. The average number of posts is up 12 times the normal average before the contest started. I expected 2 to 3 times, not 12 times. But lets see what happens over 90 days.

yeah, I had said the same thing about the 2nd day of that give away. I agree with Paul, too. see how this one works out. I'm sure that he's learning alot right now. but I have noticed that things are picking up on here a little, also. we'll get there.

to be honest, I have been a poster at strat talk since November 1. The traffic has increased, but a lot of it is new threads like Relics, love em or hate em...the guys that are joining are posting three and four word posts to get their post counts high, and I just cant do that to win a guitar. Luckily, so far the guys in the lead are guys who start meaningful threads, and were already contributing on a daily basis. I hope if Paul does a contest here, it can have some caveat about thread and post substance. If you havent checked out Strat Talk, please come by and say hi...it is a fantastic forum, building up slowly but surely.....

Hey Mike, yes, the contest over therer is bringing out the silly threads. But I think if you look overall it's double the number of good threads too. They're just harder to see due to the plethora of "other" content.

We were getting 50 posts a day and now are getting 600 posts a day. So, even if 50% of them are "me too!" or "Kewl!" that still means we're getting a lot more info exchanged.

Who knows, by the time the end of March rolls around I'll be so happy to see it end that I'll never want to do another. In my book it's always good to try.

One of my goals for 2009 is to get Gibson-Talk.com really GOING.

I know there are two other Gibson Pages, both centered on the Les Paul, but they also both seem to be more boy rocker than any of my sites. I keep hoping the serious Gibson lovers that want to talk about ALL Gibsons will start coming by here.

I've got some good promotion ideas and contacts for this year's NAMM show and we'll see how this progresses.

Thanks all for posting, hanging in there and especially for keeping Gibson-Talk moving.

Paul, I sure hope you werent offended by my remarks....I love strat talk and TDPRI, and Im starting to come here a lot more. I think what I meant by what I said falls under the boy rocker catagory that you mentioned. I totally agree with all of your points!
