Hello from up North.

Hello everybody!

I'm another Limey, born in Lancashire, but also a Canuck, having lived in Alberta, Canada for over forty years. I am now very much enjoying my retirement.

I do love my music, but can't play worth a damn. However, through my two oldest grandsons I am having a second go round at this. Needless to say they are now leaving the old guy floundering in their tracks .... but I am enjoying every minute of the trip.

We are staunch Peter Green fans - his "Anthology" set is one of our most played CDs, with everything including The Beatles, Clapton, Pink Floyd (Gilmour), Ten Years After, Gary Moore, Joe Walsh and Joe Bonamassa being amongst our inspirations.

I will hopefully introduce them to some classic jazz guitar, as we (they) move along.

We currently own a couple of Epi LP Customs one a "Black Beauty" (with the gold trim) plus a "Limited Edition" Black/Graphite flame veneer with three pups - (two EMGs plus an unidentified 'Dirty Fingers' style black uncovered 'double' humbucker in the middle). These seem to be relatively high end LP Epis and are both proving to be excellent guitars.

We also own a new Gibson Goldtop Traditional, which the boys persuaded me to buy (didn't take much effort on their part), as well as a Squier Strat, which appeared from somewhere.

All in all we are having a ton of fun.

I personally enjoy reading these forums but have only posted 'once' previously, having asked a question regarding a friends LP junior, which of course was 'well answered' by you good folks.

Anyway, must get back to my picking .... mustn't lose too much ground.

Thanks for letting an old codger ramble on ......

welcome to gibson-talk, Tony. it's nice to have you here with us. that's a good thing that your grandsons are playing guitar with you. when I found out that my grandfather played guitar, I was a teenager and didn't want to be shown anything. I wish I had listened. he played with open E tuning. I use some open tuning now, but nothing nowhere near to what I could have learned from him. so, enjoy the company and comradre of your grandsons. again, welcome to gibson-talk.
