A dream come true ...then, I lost the tone
Hi guys:
I am new in the world of Gibson. I started playing 30 years ago, I stoped and now I am retaking the experience.
I waited those 30 years and finally I bought a Gibson SG Standard. Now I have the money, then I have the dream.
My problem is that my almost brnad new Gibson loses the tone of the second and third strings. I do some bends and that´s it, the tone is gone.
I am so depressed.
I got the Guitar in Toronto (Steve´s Music Store) but live in Mexico City, so there is no way a can go back to the store.
Can any one give me an advice?

Hey Mr. Gus,
Do you mean the B and G strings? Don't get down...try a few things.
1. Change the strings and use 9 or 10s, that is if you are using light strings.
2. Raise the pole pieces on your pickups if this is allowed.
3. Raise the pickup on the high end a bit.
4. It can't hurt to use some Big Bends Nut Sauce on the bridge and nut.
Good luck...this should help for starters!

Try what indianation said. You might want to look at the pole pieces on the pickups. Gibson has been known to put the neck pickup in the bridge and vice versa from time to time. Make sure the strings and the pole pieces line up. I'm sure you can get this sorted out.

welcome to gibson-talk, Gus. we're glad to have you here with us. is there a guitar store near you that works on electric guitars ? it sounds like the "nut"(where the strings are seperated to go to each tuner) may be pinching(holding) the strings. adjusting the opening/slot a tiny bit more open may help your problem. a good luthier should be able to take care of this for you. just a thought.

Hi Gus and welcome. Good advice offered. If you can't do it yourself, then try and find a guitar tech.
