Hi, I'm new

I don't really have a Gibson, but I have a Gibson-type guitar. It's a Hohner HS40 (hence my screen name) and I wanted to join a forum that talks about Gibson and Gibson-type guitars (ie: set neck, 24 3/4" scale length, humbuckers, etc.).

All of my other (5) guitars are Strat-type guitars and I belong to Strat-Talk.com (I'm epistrat over there), and I just wanted to check out this forum, because I'm really into my HS40 right now (and I couldn't find any Hohner forums).

But I'm glad this forum is available, and thanks for having me

Pix of the HS40,

welcome to gibson-talk, hs. we're glad to have you join us. as Matt said, hang around long enough and you'll have a Gibson or Epiphone. what year is your Hohner ? if you like the sound of it, you might look at one of the Epiphone Sheraton II's. they are a "sleek" looking guitar for about $500.00.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

S. Rock, I got it at Mars Music (remember them?) in about 1998. Hohner has a newer version of their HS40 with a floating wooden bridge (mine is fixed, like a Casino), different colors, and the pickup switch just above the bottom F-Hole and close to the knobs.

You can get them online for $398, but when I got mine, I paid $569 for it, with a hardshell case.

yeah, we had one of those up here in Bloomington, Minnesota. it went out of business some years ago. I think that I may have gone in there once. I wasn't really impressed, though. I prefer the "mom and pop" type of shop/store. you get a better customer service.

I just noticed that in the newer version of the HS40, the output jack is on the face of the guitar. Whereas on mine, the output jack is on the side, on the lower bout.

And they always say it has 22 frets, but mine only has 20.

That's true S. rock, you do get better service @ the Mom and Pop's.

I just counted the frets on that pic of the newer HS40, and it only has 20. But in the specs they have for it, they always say it has 22

Welcome to Gibson-Talk. We're happy to have you. Even if you don't have a Gibson YET. Oh, but you will.
