2009 Gibson CS 339

Hi from Australia folks - new guy here.
I cannot find an answer to my query anywhere and I'm hoping that I may have some luck here. I have a 2009 CS 339 bought new at that time. It's just occurred to me that I can only find info on ES 339s. What is the difference if any and why the change of the prefix ? I have a CS 336 also but there is no mystery to that one.
Help.

Welcome to Gibson Talk. As far as I know the CS designation means Custom Shop but I could be wrong. Send an email to Gibson Customer Service and ask them. They may want some pics of the front and back of the guitar along with front and back of the headstock showing the serial#. They should get back to you in a day or two.

Does the serial number start with the letter C? If so, that is a Custom Shop guitar.

I bought my 339 which was a 2007 model, in Jan 2008. It was advertised as a ES 339, but the serial no began with CS. It also has the Gibson Custom logo on the back of the headstock.

Thanks for the replies guys - yes the serial No is CS ..... It is no doubt a 339 as I also have a CS 336 (solid as against the ply 339 as in an ES 175 and L4).
I am only curious because I can get no info anywhere when I type in CS 339 - only ES 339s appear. Mine also has the Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock.

Contact Gibson Customer service with the serial number and some good pictures. They will confirm the details and are usually quite good with responding.

Hi folks, I got a reply from the Gibson customer service dept re my CS 339.They confirmed that it was definitely a Custom Shop 339 made in Memphis according to their records (SKU). I already knew that - but my question was "why is the prefix CS and not ES ? Also why does nothing show up anywhere when I try to research a CS 339 ?
I guess I'll never know.
The price of my CS 336 was nearly double that of my 339 here in Sydney Australia but I've got to say the 339 wins hands down for me. What is the price difference in the US and Canada?
