Epiphone es339 bought Saturday

Hello everyone, just acquired a new to me es339 to go with a telecaster and strat, just wondering what the 339 stands for.

It's 4 better than a 335. Otherwise I'm not sure if Gibson had any reason for that particular number rather than as a unique model designation.

The original numbers off their ES range were based on the prices i.e ES 150 was $150 and 335 was $335. However, inflation took hold.

I agree with John after a little research.
So my ES-339 really ought to be closer to ES-3339?
