Opinions Wanted! PUP Change On A LP Classic?
Getting tired of the pickups in my 04 LP Classic.
Interested in hearing opinions and comments of what to possibly install.
Blues, Rock, no real heavy metal.
Thanks, Scott

Burstbucker Pro Alnico 5 are good, Jason Lollar Imperial Pickups are good, Larry DiMarzio are also good.
What are you looking for sound wise?

My Explorer had the same pups. I hated them...so I was able to get a really good deal on some Duncan 59s. I'm totally happy.

Not a pro by any means. Just play along to some favorite cd's like zep, zz, skynard, 38 special, just about any kind of rock and roll stuff.

I have the same guitar. I completely understand your position. Those ceramic pups on the Classics seemed very 1 dimensional. It was either rock it hard or go home. I play in a Church P&W band so this was not functional. After playing a few different LPs with other pickups I settled on the Burstbucker Pros. These gave my guitar a much greater range. I still have all of the bite and sustain I had before but now I can stay clean much farther up the dial. If you want to stay with Gibson, look into these as well as the regular Burstbuckers, and the 57's. Happy hunting. Here is a pic of my Classic now.

I've heard that the Lollars are excellent and also the Dimarzio and Duncan makes some very good buckers.

Reason: D'oh, it's a Classic not a Custom. Sorry.

Even a Gibson 490R/498T set would be a big improvement. Those should be readily available used.

I just swapped in some Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates into my LP Classic...
and I am very very pleased with the results, exactly what it needed.

I would recommend Seymour Duncan 59s. They are good, well rounded pickups. Gibson makes some good replacement pickups, but they are just way too expensive and inconsistent.
