Dusk Tiger in the flesh

I took a trip into town to take a look at the new Dusk Tiger. I wasn't total impressed with it. The pickups look odd, they're huge. And, the thing is black on the sides and back--I couldn't tell if it was plastic or not.

The Guitar Center didn't want to remove it from the case. So, I had to be content to simply take some photos through the glass display case.

Anyway, here's some photos and pricing:

I saw one today in my GC. I thought it was ugly for the same reasons & the top looks like wall paneling. However, they also had the open case & that's beautiful with tiger stripes inside.

I don't think it looks that great. Reminds me of cheaply veneered furniture. I've read some stuff on the Gibson's website and watched the videos and was not impressed at all.

Nice try Gibson.

If I wanted more than the average range of Les Paul tones, I'd go with this guitar:

THat is, imho and considering the price, the ugliest guitar that Gibson ever built.
I wouldn't give $309.99 for it (unless I had an immediate buyer for profit) much less $3099.00. I would rather lay one of the cheap L.P. things from the '70's....like the Sonex.
IT is unlike the LEs Paul REcording models in that it is a flat-top....no carve to the top. The football' control plastic on the REcordings was a bit distracting, but no way was it ugly in the way that this one is.
I don't get thisone at all.

Trying to take personal taste into account...and the fact that people SELDOM like what I like, and vice versa.
Either way...I think I just slightly threw up into my mouth.
Looks like a high school kid's metal shop project...but at grown-up prices.

Paul, I can't believe they wouldn't open up the case for you. didn't you tell them who you are ?

what if someone wants to buy it ? how is anyone going to play it before they buy it ? that price is enough to deter the average buyer from wanting to try it. if I was going to put $3000-$4000 on a guitar, it would go toward something else, like a Gretsch or a Gibson J45. but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon. I wonder how many of these Gibson is going to have to eat at the end of the year ?

That is one ugly guitar, the quarter moon shaped pickguard makes me think of some of Salvador Dali's paintings-like his melting clocks....
I will say that the video showing the tuning keys racing along tuning to open 'G' was a laugh, regardless though, I thinks it's gonna bomb out big time....
