NGD - 08 Traditional, Iced Tea (W/pics)

Okay, so actually NGD was Saturday, but I've been busy.... get over it! LOL

Seriously, I found this guitar back in November while in a search for my very first Gibson Les Paul. I have had numerous Gibson guitars over the years, but never a Les Paul.

I had tried several different Pauls at different buyin levels and even though I did like the new Standard... I didn't like the price and couldn't even begin to justify it. This particular guitar was a return (It had been purchased, then traded in on some other gear a few months later). I got it for less than a new Traditional Pro and I liked it so much better.

The things I like:
- 50's neck, nice and big and fat!
- 57 and 57+ pickups, sweet and ballsy and full sounding!
- Iced Tea Finish, doesn't look all clown red and stuff...
- the weight, it's heavier than any of my other guitars, but it's not a 12 lb boat anchor
- Pleked setup, perfect. no buzzes, relatively low action and decently cut nut (e,b and g strings still ping though... err)

Thing I don't like:

So, on to the pictures...

Nice traditional ....but

Great looking guitar.

I too have recently bought a new Gibson LP Traditional. It's a 'Goldtop', as this happens to be the colour I like best.

To me the 'Goldtop' is an iconic colour and is my third LP. I also own an Epi 'Black Beauty' LP Custom - a fantastic guitar - and another LP Gibson 1960 classic reissue, from 2006 - another 'Goldtop'.

I like 'Goldtops'.

Whilst the 'Goldtop' is by far my favourite colour, it is often cheaper, than some of those 'bursts.

However, I guess I could - at a push, and with my arm twisted, learn to live with a 'clown red' or even a 'krap brown' for that matter, if that's all the LPs there were available.

Remember 'Axis29' one man's meat is another mans poison. Your 'burst' is a beauty - to you. Go easy on the rest of us though, or we'll all go out and buy 'krap brown' burst guitars, and devalue the lot of them!

On a more positive tone - I do like it ...... but if you bought a can of gold paint and then .... SORRY!!

Now, I had to poke fun at something in my post there fellas. Believe me, I actually really love the fact that Gibson doesn't seem to be able to produce two burst guitars that look the same!

I've been eyeing goldtops for a while. One of my buds has the nice reissue GT with the p-90's and wraparound bridge. That is absolutely a killer gutiar!

I've also been contemplating an Epi 3 pickup custom.... in Ebony, with Gold of course.

....and here are two of my natural blonde friends.

The 2009 LP Traditional with the its covered pups, and the 2006 LP Classic 1960 reissue with 'naked' pups and wrap over stop.

... and yes, blondes are more fun!!

I like me a pair of Blonds! Actually it was my buddy's R4 that made me think about a Les Paul. Granted, mine doesn't have P-90's but i had another gutiar with p-90's. Nothing with that Les Paul Humbucker tone like this one... man I love these 57 pickups!
