That looks strange....I can't imagine how that logo could occur on a Gibson electric headstock. The only electrics I have seen it on would be on 1946 adn earlier Gibsons....and there aren't any L.P.'s that used that logo. This would make the guitar unique ime if it is a real Gibson. The basic headstock shape is correct even though the picture distorts the image lengthwise.
FWIW, that cursive logo was in use by Gibson through 1946. It is not limited to pre-WWII. The modern logo was first used in 1947. This is a major detail when trying to date certain Gibson guitars that don't carry serial numbers. The tapered headstock is another. The use of the tapered headstock was changed to the uniform thickness headstock in mid 1950.
disco, do you have a link to the other pictures?

Okay, so I learned something today. My post came in late...I had not read the post clarifying the oddity. GOTW.....who would have thought it? Beautiful logo....and it looks strange on a Les Paul to a long time Gibson guy. Nice maple top Explorer, too.

Thanks.
I kinda stumbled onto it. Got it two months old for a good price. It's surprisingly comfortable to play--something I never thought would be the case. The OE "hot ceramic" pups are probably great for metal.
I don't play metal.
I wanted something more "full-range" and I got the Duncan 59s for half price. They sound much, much better.
