First time Gibson buyer needs help

I have a chance of purchasing my first Gibson Les Paul standard, she's from 1990 with ebony finish (photos to follow), I have been to the owner's place and played the guitar, it's nice and loud unplugged, even better when plugged in, good action etc, but am just concerned about whether the guitar is a genuine Gibson hence I need help from the knowledge people on this forum.

The seller wants USD $1700 for it, is this a fair price? If anyone knows it's value or have had experience with this guitar please also let me know.

According to the owner, everything on this guitar is original, I have included the photo from the pots/switch so someone please tell me he's been true to his words.

Looking to know as much info about this guitar as possible, so any input welcome, Big thanks in advance

Below are some pictures I have taken when inspecting the guitar.

welcome to gibson-talk, icy. I'm no expert, but everything seems right. it doesn't appear to have been played very much. I don't see any wear on th frets. I take it that there wasn't any "scratching" noise coming from the pots being turned. and $1700 seems to be a "fair" price. if it plays good and sounds good plugged in, it should be a good guitar. I'm sure other guys will come along to give you some advice. again, welcome.

Wow, looks to be fine from here - but perhaps others know more about this model.

Nice clean guitar too. I would say that the price is good.

If the owner is letting you remove the rear covers, then I would suggest there is nothing phoney going on here.

Good Luck.

Send this information to Gibson. They'll be able to tell you whether it's fake or not. You can also do a google search on how to spot a fake.

agree contact Gibson since they are open 24/7 and give the CS the Serial Number if its a fake they will tell you right away.

If it isn't then buy it.
