Pick up question

Hi guys, just joined. I have a question about pickups. I have a les paul with a 498t in the bridge I love it, I like that it's got a lot of high end output. So my question is, I'm getting a traditional pro 2 that has the 57s in it. Are the 57s similar to the 498 at all? Thanks in advance
Adam

Welcome to Gibson-Talk, Adam! Yes, those are very similar pickups, the differences are subtle, IMHO. I have both of those sets in Les Pauls and I like what I'm getting from both sets.

Hi Adam and welcome. I was waiting for Stan (SAguitar) to chime in on this as he seems to change pickups as much as underwear! (okay, I hope he changes his underwear more often than that!)

I really can't tell you much except to go and try out the guitar in a shop and see if it speaks to you.

Got the Guitar today, I love the 57s as well, i traded my 50s les paul tribute for this traditional pro 2. It's pretty awesome, but I'm getting a pinging noise, and having trouble with the G string. It's going flat . Maybe the strings need to stretch.

Thanks Rob!

As for the pinging, is it coming from the nut? That is fairly common and means you have at least one slot that is a little too tight. Put a little graphite (pencil lead) in it, and call me in the morning.

Pinging noises are almost always the nut, as mentioned try a little graphite.

Hey Adam, if you're happy that's all that matters! Play the heck out of that Classic, those are great guitars.

I will. Thanks! It feels great to finally get the right Guitar. I've wanted an LP for like 15 years and finally bought one, had a few troubles but now I'm happy!

What pickups do you have in your Classic?
