Thanks for the suggestion, John. Gibson have confirmed that it is a Les Paul Junior Special Plus even down to to the colour and hardware (I didn't tell them any of that info - they came back to me with it!). So it seems it is original and genuine - I was getting a little worried with the flood of fakes on the market. There must have been a change with the later ones as I have seen 2 others and they are slightly different. But it wouldn't be the first time Gibson (or most other guitar manufacturers) have changed specs mid stream.

Glad you got a result. I always check with the manufacturer first. At the worst, they won't answer or don't know, but when they do come back with info, it's usually good.
