Are gibsons really as bad as most people make them out to be

So I was wondering if what people say about Gibsons is true. Also what do you think of the new Gibson models (2016/2017)

You have to take reviews with a grain of salt. Ive owned 3 Gibson's that were made in the last 20 years and they were all exceptional guitars. I still own 2 that I bought after foolishly selling my first.
I cant comment on the new models because if I try one, it may want to come home with me.

Haha thanks @infant I'd really like a white explorer, idk if it would be good for doing Kirk Hammett solos though

Hmmm... It worked for Hetfield!

I've got to add that every Gibson I've purchased and/or played in the last 40 years were just fine, quality instruments.

I have 11 LPs, an SG, a 335, a 336 and a 339 so yes they are really bad!!

As Rob says, take reviews with a grain of salt. Most people who moan about something usually have their own little gripe.

Gibson and Fender are large manufacturers so of course they will have the occasional quality issue slip through their checks. When someone ends up with one of these guitars, then they make a big deal of it.

Guitars on display in shops often get damaged by people trying them out. Someone buys the guitar without noticing the 'damage' until they get home, then blame the manufacturer.

I haven't played any of the new models, but all I can say is that modern guitars are far better made than the stuff I had to use in the 60s.

BTW a really expensive guitar from the company that is known for selling to 'dentists and doctors' ended up over here with a bridge that was badly misaligned. This guitar was made to order in their version of Custom Shop so supposedly received very high attention to detail. So if they can make mistakes, then the larger manufacturers can.

I'm going to assume you are not trolling, but asking a question like that on a Gibson forum? really?

Don't believe all you hear, how many people really said it out of what sample size and what qualified them to say so? Do they actually own a Gibson?

Every time someone mentions Gibson on Strat-Talk all the old cliches get trotted out - too heavy, too expensive blah blah. I own a 2014 LPJ, a 2014 ES-339 and a 2016 Les Paul Traditional and there's nothing wrong with any of them. My LPJ weighs a whole 4 ounces more than my Mexican made Strat and was cheaper than it too - it's great value for money and it's for sale!!!

The quality of the Traditional is amazing, the flame top looks so deep, almost like a hologram and since I bought at the end of the year I got it for a great price.

There's good and bad of course and as John says, when Gibson and Fender make so many guitars there's bound to be one or two not up to the required standard but they come with a good warranty to fix any issues you may have.

Try one - you may be pleasantly surprised.

Alan

Forgot to mention, my ES-339 is sublime.
