P90 Pickups - Vintage vs. New

I've tried a few vintage Gibsons with P90s such as ES-125, ES-175 and ES-5. They all sounded different in a way and I guess the guitar body has to do with it and how it aged and such but with that said they all had that old mellow tone. I have never tried reissue Gibson P90s in a hollow body. Every Gibson hollow body out there I see at guitar shops have humbuckers in them or on a rare occasion P100s but I'm interested in the P90s.

So for those of you who have tried P90 reissues by Gibson in hollowbodies could you tell me how they sound compared to vintage P90s in vintage hollowbodies?

Thank You,

P-90's

I really enjoy the complexity of an older P-90, but if I didn't have one, I'd go with a new one and live with it. I have an old one and a Duncan Antiquity that I'm putting in a custom built LP Special. The old one goes in the bridge position. It's about 8.50K (fairly hot). A good sounding hollow body will sound good with a reissue and better over time. The Les Paul Forum usually has some interesting threads on the P-90.

i have often heard that the older p-90's differ very little if at all from the current production ones, the only comment i have ever heard if that the older ones may be a bit bassier-my guess is that they have lost high end instead-the lp forum bears this out
