Hi All, Just bought an Epiphone Riviera Custom P93 and very pleased with tones etc however I want to have the action lowered quite a bit but it appears to me that the bridge pickup is very high compared to middle and neck and to get action as low as I want the strings will touch the pickup. Is there a way around this? Anybody know of a suitable replacement bridge pickup for the bridge position?

I've only played one of these and it did seem as though the limit to how low you can drop the string action was limited by the pickup heights. I'll run out tonight and see if I can get a look at another one and see what can possibly be done about the problem.
My first thought is that you may be able to switch the pickups around, if they are different heights, but let me conform that.

Thank you. I'm not sure but the bridge pickup may be set on a spacer? If so removing the spacer is a breeze. If not I will have to replace the bridge with another. The neck and middle pickups do not pose any problem.

Well, just remove the pickup and see what's under there! It may be as simple as removing a spacer. Or it may be more involved. I have a Gretsch that I had to rout the pickup cavities a bit to lower the pickups to an appropriate height.

    Thanks for replying

I am taking the guitar to be pro' set up tomorrow so he can sort it out for me. Looking closely at it it does look like there is a spacer. Easy remedy if so but I'll let the guy sort it out for me. Cheers
